Welcome to the South Amherst Middle School Library's virtual branch! South Amherst is part of of the Firelands Local School District. Our middle school library serves a school population of over 400 students, grades 6 through 8. We have a collection of over 12,000 materials. Students also have access to our attached computer lab containing 30 computers. Through the use of computers students have the ability to search for information online. In addition the library has the ability to retrieve information from several databases through INFOhio and LEECA. Our virtual library is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our site is divided into ten sections. The Accelerated Reader page contains an explanation of the AR program and has links to our Accelerated Reader titles sorted by author, title, reading level and points.The Catalogs page offers our card catalog as well as other area catalogs. It also includes our Web catalog with extensive links to great web sites and Reference Databases. The Fun Stuff page contains sites for reading, writing, video clips, games and more. Our Home Page contains an introduction to the library as well as shortcuts to sites for teacher projects and copies of our past electronic newsletters. The Homework Help page provides sites to help students with bibliographies, general tools, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and study skills. Our Library Information page contains the schedule for the library, the library curriculum and useful information on library procedures. The New Materials page contains an up to date listing of our new print and no-print materials. In addition it also highlights new web sites that we have added to our site. The Search page provides lists of Search Engines, Search Directories, Specialized Engines, and Multi-Search Engines with explanations of each. The Teacher Resource page includes links to resources and other information to enhance lesson plans and create learning activities. The page is divided into General Sites, Clip Art, Art, Health & Physical Education, Language Arts, Library, Math, Music, Science, Social Studies, and Special Education. Finally the Technology page presents links to all types of technology information, such as digital cameras, Power Point information, digital storytelling and much more. There is also a large selection of video clips.

This site has been created to assist students, staff and parents. We are constantly updating and adding new web sites so check back often.
