Check Out Procedures

1.

All students will have an opportunity to come to the library to check out a book on a regular basis according to their weekly classroom  schedule. The only time this doesn't happen is if it is canceled due to an event, or program conflicting with the schedule.

2.

Kindergarten and First grade students are allowed to check out 1 book for one week . Second, Third and Fourth grade students are allowed to check out 2 books for one week.

3.

All books are due at library time. If a student is not done reading one or more of their books, they may renew them, but in order to do this them must bring the book back to the library so that we may renew it on the computer.

4.

No fines are charged on overdue books.  Instead, the student will be unable to check out another book until that one is returned.

5.

All students are responsible for the library material they borrow and must pay full replacement cost for lost items.  Additionally, students are responsible for damages to library materials which occur during the time the materials are checked out to them. Such damage includes water/liquid damage, marking or drawing on the pages, torn and/or torn out pages, teeth marks, broken covers/spines, and any other damage caused while the book is checked out to the student.  Students are responsible for any damages to any book that is checked out to them whether or not they actually caused the damage themselves.  The librarian will assess any damages, and the cost is determined by the degree of damage. The full replacement cost must be promptly paid for all books that are damaged beyond repair. If not paid, these fines will accumulate on the students record. Report lost or damaged material(s) as soon as possible.

6.

If a student is unable to check out a book at library time, they will still be able to participate in story/lesson time.

7.

Reminder notices will be sent home if a student has an overdue book for an extended period of time.

8.

AR: We have AR early return time before 8:50. This time is for students who were absent and need an AR book or for students who forgot their library book at class time. Students can use this feature- providing they have no overdue books.
